Emergenze Archeologiche - Emergenze Architettoniche - Emergenze Artistiche
s we can deduced by the discovered fortified italic
enclosure at Colle Rischia and by several sepulchres and two tombstones with epigraphs
found in the country-side under the Church of S.Maria, even the Tione degli Abruzzi
community must have been the head of a pagus or vicus vestine. There are not enough
elements to tell us exactly where the first urban nucleus was situated, but the
architectural finds of the territory of S.Maria del Ponte underline with certainty its
ancient origins and in the same way confirm that the history of Tione and S.Maria is
strictly linked as the fact that S.Maria del Ponte does not seem to have been taxed by
King Carlo I dAngiņ, would lead us to believe. While in the 1269 decree which
involved all the land and castles of the country-side of LAquila, Beffi, Fontecchio
and Tione were indicated.
The church at that time,
therefore belonged to the latter.
In 1294 in the Royal License to LAquila by King Carlo II on September 28, in which a
list of the castles assigned to the country-side of LAquila is compiled, the village
of S.Maria del Ponte is remembered as dependence of Tione.
In 1340 in a register of the Church S.Maria del Ponte of Valva is described as being one
mile from Beffi and two from Fontecchio.
In 1349 the land of Tine is detached from the Valva Diocese and is united with that of
LAquila by Pope Clemente VII.
In1393 a parchment document dated March 16, during the reign of Ludovico, infers that the
men of the University of Tione, by mandate of the grand Simeone da Monanima, kingdom of
LAquila, appoint Paolo Berardini and Colecta Masj Marchi of Tione as mayors and
donate land, houses and gardens situated in the locality of S.Nicola to them, where the
castle of Tione and its wall, moats, guards and fortress had to be built.
In 1424 the University of Tione became part of the diocese of LAquila.
In 1498 because of an argument with the territory of Rocca di Mezzo, the two mayors of
Tione ask the Lords of the Chamber of LAquila, Conte Franchi di Montorio
and two
noblemen from Beffi to intervene.
In 1516 with a decree of the Bishop of LAquila, the parish priest and the canonicals
of S.Maria del Ponte come to an agreement with the masons of Tione on the services to be
rendered to the church.
In 1529 in the infeudation of the castles by order of Filippo dOrange, Tione and
S.Maria del Ponte are subjected to having two distinct barons. In the same year Tione
loses its juridical status and has Luigi Benagalzer as its captain.
In 1560 the estate of Tione passes over to Duke Giulio Cantelmo of Popoli, with the title
of baron, who on
November 1 concedes the so called
"Capitoli", that is, documents with which the citizens and feudatory gave
life to a juridical order to respect reciprocally.
In 1563 the estate of Tione was sold to Muzio Rivera of LAquila from the Royal
Court.
In 1572 the aristocratic patrician Muzio Rivera, baron of the Castle of Tione, after
having bought various properties with Berardino Imbasciata, Andrea Iacobi and Blasio
Coletta, concedes a part to the church. On December 8 of the same year, the same
patrician just as Giulio Cantelmi did, concedes the "Capitoli" to the citizens
of Tione.
In 1578 Muzio Rivera dies and the estate of Tione passes on to his eldest son, Luca
Antonio.
In 1587 the land of Tione was sold to Ortenzia del Pezzo.
In 1593 the population of Tione and of Goriano Valli lease the 7-year right, from the
population of Secinaro, to gather fire-wood on Mount Sirente.
In1669 the estate of Tione passed on to the Duke of S.Demetrio, Clemente Sannerio.
In 1737 in Santa Maria del Ponte, we find a collegiate church with a parish priest, 10
canonicals as well as the chaplains.
