The Mountains |
The glacial phenomenon dating back to the Quaternary period concerns all the mountain groups of the park. There are five glacial cirques on the Sirente Mountain and five on the Magnola Mountain. The moraines that in some places cover various kilometres are proof that the numerous glaciers existed far back in history.
The environments, altitude, various exposures and the climate make the landscape one of exceptional beauty, with spectacular panoramas: where rock faces tower over beech-forests, vast scree extensions with their characteristic rock flora, bare rocky ridges with sparse vegetation typical of colder climates.
